QUANTITATIVE TECHNIQUES IN MANAGEMENT

SCHEMA: Total 40 classes (excluding presentations made by the students)
Unit-1: 3 classes
Unit-2: 16 classes
Unit-3: 9 classes
Unit-4: 12 classes

Brief Outline of the Syllabus
UNIT-1
Scope and application of operations Research in managerial decision making, iDecision making under various situations, use of decision trees
UNIT-2
Linear programming: Mathematical formulations of LP iortae for product mix problems, graphical and simplex method of solving LP problems, sensitivity analysis, duality
Transportation Problem: Various method of finding initial basic feasible solution and optimal cost Assignment problem
UNIT-3
Game theory-Concept of game, two person zero sum game, pure and mixed strategy games, saddle point, odds method, dominance method and graphical method for solving mixed strategy game.
Sequencing problem: Johnsons algorithm for n jobs and 2 machines, n jobs and 3 machines, two jobs and m machine problems
UNIT-4
Queuing theory: Characteristics of M/M/I Queue model, application of poisson and exponential distribution in estimating arrival rate and service rate
Replacement problem: Replacement of assets which deteriorate with time, replacement of assets which fail suddenly
Introduction to simulation
